Status of Implementation
The Planning and Environmental Review Division (PER) has reviewed the 2022 CAL FIRE updates to the Fire Hazard Severity Zones. Properties located within High or Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones will require documentation of compliant Defensible Space Inspection at the time of sale of the property.
Sacramento residents within High or Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones would need to contact CAL FIRE for inspection. The small portion of residents in Borden/Clay Station would need to contact the Herald Fire Department for Defensible Space Inspection.
New proposed development is reviewed on a case-by-case basis to determine whether it is located in High or Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones.
